8485

8485 (Also known as Eighty, Babs or Pincode) is a Canadian music artist currently living in Toronto. She's been active under the name 8485 since January 2020, but has been making music since highschool. She has a second current project entitled Trinket. Eighty has gone through a few distinct stylistic eras, from dressing like an e-girl early on, to claiming to be a robot, and now dressing much more modestly. There are words to describe her style, but I feel it would be more beneficial to view her gallery for that.

Personal Life

Eighty is somewhat secretive online about anything personal, and I do not wisht to speculate on things she does not want fans knowing. She has discussed publicly being Catholic, and this is channelled into much of her music; She is seen wearing crosses in most photos and sings directly of god in 'pure'. She stated during the Plague Town memorial livestream that she enjoys peforming 'pure' as it is a rare chance to take a moment to pray on stage. Eighty has been dating Blackwinterwells since at least 2020, and they collaborate frequently on songs.

Plague Town

Plague Town, released April 14 2021, is Eighty's longest project to date. The EP contains 5 songs, with one collaboration, and production by Blackwinterwells.

Unreleased songs

Eighty is notorious for having many many unreleased songs. Some of these songs, like "Mine", have been floating around for 3 years without an official release. She has spoken multiple times about how slow her song-writing process is, and that she does not wish to be rushed into releasing them. Songs such as 'obvious', 'cool dnb song', 'mine, and 'i feel fantastic' have been played at 5+ concerts, but never released. Eighty has thrown a curveball by releasing 3 surprise singles (halations, sweet dreams, and scribble) which had no appearance before their announcement.

These unreleased songs feel deeply personal compared to some of her other songs, and the delay for them makes sense. Eighty stated once on her instagram story that 'Mine' was her favourite song she'd ever written, despite its lack of release, showing how important it is to her. She states that she has not released an album for similar reasons; She works very slowly and needs her projects to be 100% ready to be presented and "at the right time".
